This beekeeping project is implemented in Karama Sector of Huye District, a culturally and environmentally significant rural community of 21,577 people whose livelihoods rely mainly on subsistence agriculture, coffee farming, and small-scale livestock keeping. Despite the rich cultural heritage and natural assets, households face low incomes, limited employment opportunities, and food insecurity. By building on existing strengths, particularly coffee production, beekeeping, and community resilience the project aims toincrease honey production, support sustainable income generation for improved livelihoods, and contribute to the socio-economic development of Karama while benefiting vulnerable and low-income households involved in beekeeping.
