About this Project

Project Launch: 1-16-26

Kigarama Village, located in Huye District, Mukura Sector, Bukomeye Cell, comprises 185 households, with 93% of residents dependent on agriculture and livestock farming. The village faces challenges accessing essential resources due to the nearest market being 7–10 km away, and young children (ages 3–6) are often left unsupervised while parents work, exposing them to risks such as accidents, neglect, malnutrition, and developmental delays.

To address these issues, the community has prioritized constructing a community-based Early Childhood Development (ECD) center. The center will provide safe, nurturing care, early education, protection, and positive parenting support for children aged 2-6 years from the sorrounding villages. It will benefit marginalized groups, including children from single-mother and women-headed households, and enable parents, particularly women, to engage more effectively in farming and income-generating activities. The initiative is supported by parents, health workers, and local leaders, reflecting a strong community driven commitment to improving child development, safety, and educational outcomes.
