About this Project

Project Launch: 8-13-25

With a $3,903.43 World Connect co-investment, the Namalimwe CBCC, in partnership with YALI RLC alumna Luckia Emment, has launched the second phase of completing its child care centre. The first phase focused on constructing, roofing, and flooring the structure, but it remained unfinished. This new phase will enhance the learning environment for over 210 children aged 3–5 years through painting, provision of custom-made furniture, creation of print-rich educational materials, and installation of ramps for inclusivity.

Project Update: 1-31-26

The completion of the construction of the Namalimwe Community-Based Child Care Centre (CBCC) in Namalimwe, T/A Jalasi, Mangochi, has made significant progress. The project, funded at $3,903.40, aims to complete and operationalise the CBCC to provide a safe, accessible, and high-quality learning environment for children under five. This follows earlier delays caused by insufficient funding in 2022. Most key activities have already been completed, including the procurement of chairs, desks and mats. The remaining tasks include finishing the construction of toilets, installing gutters and ramps, and painting the building. Once completed, the facility will serve 130 learners (58 boys and 72 girls) across its three classes. Notably, it will also support four girls with disabilities, including hearing impairments, speech difficulties, and intellectual disabilities, ensuring they learn in a conducive and inclusive environment.
