About this Project

Project Launch: 10-15-26

Sacred Court Support is a relationship-centered, interfaith initiative rooted in a simple but powerful conviction: no immigrant New Yorker should have to face immigration court or ICE check-ins alone. Trained volunteers, paired by experience and shared language, offer more than a reassuring presence. They build relationships, connecting with individuals before their hearings, standing alongside them through hours of uncertainty, and staying afterward to listen, debrief, and offer care. Volunteers are sustained through weekly briefings, monthly legal office hours with immigration attorneys, and pastoral care gatherings that deepen their capacity for solidarity and accompaniment. This grant will expand the part-time Volunteer Manager position to full-time and strengthen volunteer training and community-building efforts, enabling Sacred Court Support to train 160 new volunteers, increase accompaniments by 15 each month, and reach a cumulative 1,250 people served. Together, we are building a sustainable, growing network of solidarity across New York City, transforming moments of fear and isolation into experiences of dignity, connection, and collective care.
